| FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK: LOS ANGELES, February 12, 2007 — February 14 marks the official birth of Pink Pea, a new, independent production company with a fresh focus: representing the fabulous diversity of non-traditional families. The number of children in non-traditional families is growing every day! According to the 2000 US Census (the most current data available), one-third of female partner households and one-fifth of male partner households in America have children. However, to-date children's programming for these families has not been available. Pink Pea is planning to change that and will mark this important milestone on Valentine’s Day, with an evening of “Celebrity Drag Queen Bingo” at legendary hot-spot Hamburger Mary’s in West Hollywood. The event starts at 9pm and is expected to draw hundreds, including co-host Debra Wilson of MAD TV, who are turning out to show their support and to learn more about the company’s inspired educational programming for children of gay and lesbian parents. Celebrated Drag Queen Belle Air, who is also one of the puppet voices in Pink Pea’s first production, is hosting the event. Pink Pea co-founder Tammy Stoner’s struggle to find children’s programs for her own son inspired her to action. “It is incredibly important to give our children television images that reflect their world. When my three-year old son began asking me for shows with ‘two mommies’, I realized that he had already begun to feel left out and to sense the marginalization of our community — feelings that often lead to confusion or even shame. We need to create programming that represents all of today’s families, so our children can grow up knowing that it is love and dedication that make a family, not the gender or sexual orientation of their parents.” Along with Ms. Stoner, Pink Pea co-founders, Andrea Maxwell, Kathleen Latlip, and Wayne DeSelle will use their extensive industry experience to create high-quality, educational, and fun images that children in the gay and lesbian community can relate to. Pink Pea’s first project, a video series entitled Dottie’s Magic Pockets is currently in production and is scheduled for release in July 2007. Review copies will be available in March 2007.
